Russia: Filed Google’s appeal against Tagansky District Court decision imposing a RUB 4.6 billion fine over alleged non-compliance with content removal orders

On 12 February 2024, Google filed an appeal against the Tagansky District Court ruling imposing a RUB 4’611’738’636 (approximately USD 50.8 million) fine based on Part 5 of Art. 13.41 on repeated administrative violations of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses. In particular, the Court imposed the fine over allegations that Google failed to delete information classified as false regarding the military operation in Ukraine, promotion of non-traditional sexual relationships, and extremist materials.
