Issued Tagansky District Court ruling including a RUB 4.6 billion fine imposed on Google over non-compliance with content removal orders (Case no. 05-6675/2023)

On 20 December 2023, the Tagansky District Court issued its ruling in the case brought before the court by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) against Google, alleging non-compliance with content removal orders. The Court imposed a RUB 4’611’738’636 (approximately USD 50.8 million) fine based on Part 5 of Art. 13.41 on repeated administrative violations of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses. In particular, Roskomnadzor alleged that Google failed to delete information classified as false regarding the military operation in Ukraine.
