Introduced Large online platforms: user identity authentication (SB 1228)

On 15 February 2024, the Large online platforms: user identity authentication Bill (SB 1228) was introduced in the Senate of California. The Bill would mandate that social media platforms, which authenticate user identities, to submit biannual reports to the Attorney General. These reports should detail their user authentication methods and whether they disclose authenticated user information to the public. Additionally, platforms that do not authenticate user identities must also provide biannual statements to the Attorney General confirming this practice.
