Entry into force with grace period of Health Data Utilisation Act establishing Data Access and Coordination Office for Health Data

On 26 March 2024, the Health Data Utilisation Act (BGBl. 2024 I Nr. 102) entered into force one day after its publication in the Federal Gazette. The Act establishes a Data Access and Coordination Office for Health Data at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. In particular, the Office is tasked with maintaining a public metadata catalogue for transparency about available health data and identifying the respective data holders. Further, the Act regulates the competencies in cases of inter-state research programs.
