Germany: Adopted Health Data Utilisation Act establishing Data Access and Coordination Office for Health Data

On 2 February 2024, the Health Data Utilisation Act establishing the Data Access and Coordination Office for Health Data was adopted by the Federal Council. The Act establishes a Data Access and Coordination Office for Health Data at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. In particular, the Office is tasked with maintaining a public metadata catalogue for transparency about available health data and identifying the respective data holders. Further, the Act regulates the competencies in cases of inter-state research programs.
