Implemented Artificial Intelligence Policy Act including licensing provision (SB0149)

On 1 May 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Policy Act entered into force. The Act establishes a regulatory mitigation scheme which enables potential participants wishing to utilise AI technology to apply for temporary regulatory mitigation from the Office of Artificial Intelligence Police. Eligible participants must demonstrate technical expertise, financial capacities, and the potential for substantial consumer benefits from the use of AI, among other things. Subject to a regulatory mitigation agreement, certain regulatory requirements can be waived or modified.
