On 28 February 2024, the Bill on Artificial Intelligence Amendments was adopted by the Utah House of Representatives. The Bill establishes a regulatory mitigation scheme which enables potential participants wishing to utilise AI technology to apply for temporary regulatory mitigation from the Office of Artificial Intelligence Police. Eligible participants must demonstrate technical expertise, financial capacities, and the potential for substantial consumer benefits from the use of AI, among other things. Subject to a regulatory mitigation agreement, certain regulatory requirements can be waived or modified. The Bill has been forwarded for enrollment and is set to be delivered to the governor for signing.
