On 13 February 2024, the Bill on Artificial Intelligence Amendments was passed by the Utah Senate. The Bill establishes a regulatory mitigation scheme which enables potential participants wishing to utilise AI technology to apply for temporary regulatory mitigation from the Office of Artificial Intelligence Police. Eligible participants must demonstrate technical expertise, financial capacities, and the potential for substantial consumer benefits from the use of AI, among other things. Subject to a regulatory mitigation agreements, certain regulatory requirements can be waived or modified. The Bill is now passed to the Utah House of Representatives.
