Implemented Law amending Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure clarifying responsibility for crimes against the security of the Russian Federation (Bill No. 533912-8/Law No. 11-FZ)

On 25 February 2024, law No. 11-FZ, amending the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure, clarifying responsibility for crimes against the security of the Russian Federation (previously Bill No. 533912-8), entered into force. The law includes measures for the potential confiscation of property for disseminating false information about the Russian army or government agencies' exercise of power. Additionally, public calls to conduct activities against state security could also result in property confiscation. The law expands the list of crimes punishable by means of the confiscation of assets obtained through such criminal acts to cover crimes under RCC Article 207.3 and RCC Article 280.4.
