Russia: Introduced Bill amending Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure clarifying responsibility for crimes against the security of the Russian Federation (Bill No. 533912-8)

On 22 January 2024, the Bill amending the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure clarifying responsibility for crimes against the security of the Russian Federation (Bill No. 533912-8) was introduced in the Russian Parliament. The Bill includes measures for the potential confiscation of property for disseminating false information about the Russian army or government agencies' exercise of power. The Bill proposes amendments to Russia’s Criminal Code (RCC) and Code of Criminal Procedure, expanding the list of crimes punishable by means of the confiscation of assets obtained through such criminal acts.
