Announced FTC lawsuit against Day Pacer and EduTrek for allegedly misusing consumer contact information

On 12 April 2019, the US Fair Trade Commission (FTC) announced a public lawsuit against Day Pacer and EduTrek and three individual defendants for allegedly misusing consumer contact information. The FTC states that the companies made numerous illegal, unsolicited calls concerning education programs to consumers who submitted their contact info for other purposes. Further, the FTC claims that the website used hidden tactics to disguise the telemarketing purposes to deceive the customers. Additionally, the companies allegedly called people who were placed on the National Do-Not-Call Registry. The FTC charges the companies with violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule through their actions.
