European Union: Filed lawsuit requesting annulment of adequacy decision for EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Latombe v Commission)

On 6 September 2023, Latombe filed a lawsuit against the European Commission requesting annulment of Adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Latombe v Commission). The plaintiff, Latombe, a French national, claimed that his personal data could be transferred to organisations in the US without any "additional control" on compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In the plaintiff's opinion, the United States does not ensure an adequate level of data protection.
