Announced Roskomnadzor coercive measures against 12 hosting providers for violating local operational requirements under Federal Law No. 236-FZ
On 26 September 2023, Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media) announced coercive measures against 12 foreign hosting providers due to non-compliance with local operation requirements under Federal Law No. 236-FZ. Roskomnadzor will notify internet users via search engines about the companies' non-compliance. The Roskomnadzor stated that the hosting providers failed to establish a user account on the Roskomnadzor website, implement a feedback mechanism for Russian citizens and organisations and establish an authorised representative office within Russia. Affected companies are Hetzner Online GmbH, Network Solutions, WPEngine, HostGator.com, Ionos Inc, DreamHost, FastComet, Amazon Web Services, GoDaddy.com LLC, Bluehost Inc, Kamatera Inc and DigitalOcean. The measures will remain in effect until compliant with the law.
