On 26 September 2023, the European Commission launched the Digital Services Act (DSA) transparency database. The transparency database offers users the ability to access summary statistics (currently beta version), conduct specific searches for statements of reasons, and download datasets. The Commission plans to introduce additional analytical tools and visualization capabilities. The Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs), including Alibaba AliExpress, Amazon Store, Apple AppStore, Booking.com, Facebook, Google Play, Google Maps, Google Shopping, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter, Wikipedia, YouTube, Zalando, Bing, and Google Search must submit their data. Starting 17 February 2024, all providers are obliged to submit their data (micro and small enterprises are excluded). Under DSA, providers of hosting services are required to provide clear and specific information to users regarding restrictions imposed on content that was classified as illegal or incompatible with their terms and conditions. In addition, the providers of hosting services must submit the decisions and statements of reason to the database managed by the Commission.
