On 18 September 2023, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) announced the adoption of a fast-track assessment system under the Fake News Eradication Promotion Plan. The KCC stated that the fast-track assessment system would enable swift verification of the content to determine if it is "fake" and that it would impose corrective measures. Furthermore, the FCC stated that it would extend the licence validity periods from 5 to 7 years, with flexibility in cases of serious violations. The FCC stated that it will collaborate with the National Assembly on Bills that address the dissemination of fake news.
