Consultation regarding the competitive effects of the planned NVIDIA/Arm merger closed

On 27 January 2021, the consultation period that was part of the merger inquiry by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) regarding the planned merger between NVIDIA and Arm was closed. It opened on 6 January 2021, when the CMA launched an investigation into NVIDIA's planned acquisition of Arm Ltd. for $40 billion, which was announced by the companies on 13 September 2020. Both companies design computer chips as their main line of trade. The CMA will investigate if the planned takeover has adverse effects on competition in the UK.
