Launch of NVIDIA/Arm merger inquiry by the CMA
On 6 January 2021, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launched an investigation into NVIDIA's planned acquisition of Arm Ltd. for $40 billion, which was announced by the companies on 13 September 2020. Both companies design computer chips as their main line of trade. The CMA will investigate if the planned takeover has adverse effects on competition in the UK. The launched inquiry includes a consultation period, which will close on 27 January 2021.
