On 3 August 2023, the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023 was introduced in the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha). The proposed Bill allows the Central Government to restrict the transfer of personal data by a data fiduciary to foreign countries or territories outside India through a notification.
