On 10 March 2023, the Mississippi Digital Asset Mining Act (SB 2603) was rejected after failing to pass before the expiry of the legislative session. The Act would also have created a Mississippi Digital Asset Mining Council comprising representatives appointed by the Governor, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House, members of the public, government officials, and a representative of an environmental non-profit organisation. The Council would have been tasked with evaluating the impact of digital asset mining on the state's economy, environment, and power grid.
