Implemented Law 2020-1266 aiming to regulate the commercial exploitation of the image of children under sixteen on online platforms including content moderation regulation

On 20 April 2021, Law 2020-1266, aiming to regulate the commercial exploitation of the image of children under sixteen on online platforms, including content moderation regulation, is implemented. The Law came into force 6 months following its publication in the Official Journal. The Law requires video-sharing platform services to adopt measures to promote on their platform information on how the dissemination of the images of children under sixteen years is regulated and information on the risks associated with the distribution of such content. Furthermore, the Law requires video-sharing platforms to promote measures enabling users to report content depicting children under 16 that would undermine their dignity, moral or physical integrity and improve the detection of such content.
