Implemented Utah Social Media Regulation Act (SB 152) including data protection regulations

On 1 March 2024, the Social Media Regulation Act (SB 152), including data protection regulations, is implemented. In particular, the Act prohibits social media companies from collecting minors' personal data and using data generated based on a minor's activity, including posts, messages or text. Social media platforms are allowed to collect minors' personal data and process it only for the purpose of age verification to comply with the service access restrictions that they are required to implement for users under 18 years old.
