On 30 January 2023, the Utah Social Media Regulation Act (SB 152) was introduced in the Senate. In particular, the Act would prohibit social media companies from collecting minors' personal data and using data generated based on their activity, including posts, messages or text. The social media platforms would be able to collect minors' personal data and process it only for the purpose of age verification to comply with the service access restrictions that they would be required to implement for users under 18 years old.
