On 24 March 2016, the Personal Data Protection Act, including a business registration requirement, was adopted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye. The Act would require entities processing personal data to register with the Data Controllers' Registry before starting their activities. Furthermore, the Act specifies that the Personal Data Protection Board would have the power to provide derogation from the registration requirement with the Data Controllers' Registry. The Act will come into force 6 months after its publication in the official Gazette.
