Implemented Executive Order 2022-09 Prohibiting Use of Certain Foreign Technologies

On 13 January 2023, Executive Order 2022-09 prohibiting the use of certain foreign technologies on state IT infrastructure and networks was implemented. The list of banned foreign technologies includes Huawei Technologies, ZTE Corp, Hytera Communications Corporation, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company, Dahua Technology Company, Tencent Holdings, Tencent QQ, QQ Wallet, WeChat, Alibaba, Alipay, and TikTok. The Executive Order required state executive agencies to delete any of the above-listed technologies from state devices and remove any relevant hardware from state networks. Additionally, future installation of these technologies as well as access to the technologies through state networks is prohibited.
