China: Announced creation of National Data Bureau

On 7 March 2023, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang signed and adopted the State Council's Institutional Reform Plan, which proposes the establishment of a National Data Bureau. The National Data Bureau will be responsible for advancing the development of data-related institutions, coordinating the integration, sharing, development and application of data resources, and pushing forward the planning and building of a Digital China, the digital economy and a digital society.
