Japan: Opened consultations on the Intellectual Property Strategic Plan 2023

On 6 March 2023, the Japanese Cabinet Office's Intellectual Property Strategy Promotion Secretariat opened a public consultation on the Intellectual Property (IP) Strategic Plan 2023, until 7 April 2023. The priorities of the proposed Plan include developing an IP ecosystem to support the development of startups, IP standards setting, and development of a content strategy in face of growing digitalisation. The content strategy refers to reforms in the existing copyright system to suit increasing digitalisation, building a digital archive system, and strengthening anti-piracy and counterfeit goods measures.
