Launch of Market Study into Apple's and Google's Market Power includes an Invitation to Comment

The Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) launched a Market Study into Apple's and Google's "effective duopoly" in regards to their mobile ecosystems. The Market Study serves the purpose of informing the CMA about mobile ecosystems, in order to more effectively regulate the digital market. As part of the study, the CMA will look more closely into the effect Apple's and Google's mobile ecosystem has on the interests of consumers. Furthermore, the CMA will also investigate the effect Apple and Google have on competition and innovation in the digital market. The CMA will namely look into the pair's operating systems, browsers, applications and app stores. The publication of the final report must take place by June 14, 2022 and includes the possibility of a consultation on the need of a market investigation reference.
