Publication of CNIL revised guidelines on consent regarding online cookies

The revised guidelines and recommendations on the consent requirement for online cookies are published by the French data protection authority CNIL. The new recommendations enter into force on 31 March 2021 and are based on the European Data Protection Board's standards, which were announced in May 2020. The major cookie and consent revisions concern how companies obtain and demonstrate proof of user consent, allow users to refuse cookies and withdraw consent, inform users about the purpose of cookies.
