United Kingdom: Closed consultation on software cybersecurity

On 1 May 2023, the consultation period on software cybersecurity closed. The consultation was opened on 6 February 2023, when the UK Government published a policy paper on software cybersecurity. The consultation aimed to gather information on software risks and cyber threats and the measures and practices businesses implement to create a secure software ecosystem. The information provided by stakeholders would be used by the UK Government to better mitigate the cyber risks involved with software. According to the UK government, the cybersecurity of software is especially relevant considering the fragmented nature of the development of software, with many actors involved in the production and design of the software.
