Implemented Artificial Intelligence and Public Action Study recommendations establishing new powers for CNIL

On 23 January 2023, the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) announced that it is establishing a new unit, the artificial intelligence service (SIA), implementing the recommendations the Council of State issued. In particular, the SIA will study how the algorithms based on Artificial intelligence (AI) function, identify risks related to individual privacy and prepare for the implementation of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. The CNIL stated that it would issue guidelines regarding the legality of the use of personal data in developing AI and outline best practices for compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
