On 22 December 2022, the European Commission opened a public consultation on the draft Delegated regulation on methodology for calculating the supervisory fee implementing Digital Services Act (Article 43) until 19 January 2023. The draft Delegated regulation outlines the methods the Commission will apply to calculate the individual fees that the very large online platforms and search engines will be required to pay to cover the Commission's supervisory work. The entities will be required to pay the fee annually after being designated as very large platforms. In particular, the draft Delegated Act stipulates that the fee will not exceed 0.05% of the very large platform or engine's global annual profit in the last financial year.
