On 24 November 2022, the Online Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, including new powers for the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), was signed into law by the President of Singapore. The Bill will be implemented on a date that the Minister appoints by notification in the Gazette. The Bill will give the IMDA the power to designate online communication services providers as having a significant presence within the country and require them to comply with the Bill's provisions as well as the Code of Practice. Furthermore, the IMDA will have the power to require online communication service providers to implement specific measures to reduce the users' exposure to content classified as harmful or illegal.
