On 3 October 2022, the Online Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, including new powers for the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), was introduced in the Parliament of Singapore. The Bill would give the IMDA the power to designate online communication services providers as having a significant presence within the country and require them to comply with the Bill's provisions as well as the Code of Practice. Furthermore, the IMDA would have the power to require online communication service providers to implement specific measures to reduce the users' exposure to content classified as harmful or illegal.
