Description

Passed EU machinery regulation outlining quality of service requirements

On 15 December 2022, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached a provisional agreement on the European Commission's proposal for a regulation on machinery products. It revises the existing Machinery Directive to address safety issues posed by new technologies. The regulation introduces new requirements for autonomous machines, human-machine collaboration and digital technologies, including AI. In particular, the high-risk machinery products listed in the regulation will be subject to a specific conformity assessment procedure completed by a third party before the machinery is placed on the market.
