On 14 December 2022, the EU and Thailand signed a "Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation" aiming to strengthen the political dialogue between the parties on issues of mutual interest in a wide number of policy areas, including digital trade. The parties agreed to exchange information on regulatory matters in the context of digital trade. In particular, the parties will collaborate to ensure the recognition and facilitation of interoperable electronic trust and authentication services, direct marketing communications treatment, consumer protection and other relevant matters for developing digital trade. The Agreement will enter into force once the EU Member States and Thailand have ratified it.
