Signed EU-Thailand Partnership and Cooperation Agreement including Personal Data and Privacy Protection

On 14 December 2022, the European Union (EU) and Thailand signed a "Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation" aiming to strengthen the political dialogue between the parties on issues of mutual interest in a wide number of policy areas, including personal data and privacy protection. The parties agreed to cooperate in order to obtain a high level of personal data and privacy protection and its effective enforcement. The parties also agreed on cooperation mechanisms such as technical and legal assistance in the form of exchange of information and best practices, training and expertise, among others. The Agreement will enter into force once the EU Member States and Thailand have ratified it.
