Announced UK and Ukraine Digital Trade Agreement including cross-border data transfer regulation

On 30 November 2022, the United Kingdom and Ukraine announced that they had reached an agreement in principle on Digital Trade (DTA). In particular, the DTA will allow the transfer of “trusted data” between the countries by removing restrictions classified as arbitrary or unjustifiable to enable cooperation between businesses. The DTA specifies that the countries are allowed to implement restrictions in order to ensure the protection of personal data.
