On 20 March 2023, the United Kingdom and Ukraine signed a Digital Trade Agreement (DTA) aiming to support Ukraine’s economy and enhance trade in digital goods and services between both countries. In particular, the DTA will allow the transfer of “trusted data” between the countries by removing restrictions classified as arbitrary or unjustifiable to enable cooperation between businesses. The DTA specifies that the countries are allowed to implement restrictions in order to ensure the protection of personal data.
