Closed consultation on Canadian Competition Act Review

On 27 February 2023, the public consultation for the review Canadian Competition Act was closed. The review's objective is to improve key areas of the competition framework, including the corrective measures and enforcement mechanisms provided in the Competition Act in increasingly digital and data-driven markets. During the consultation, the government gathered information on the role and powers of the Competition Bureau, the effectiveness of remedies and private redress mechanisms. Furthermore, stakeholders were invited to submit information regarding data and digital market challenges and comment on whether new sector-specific mechanisms addressing anti-competitive actions should be created for digital markets.
