Published Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 including competition rules for e-commerce operators

The Indian Government publishes the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. They include several competition rules for e-commerce operators, including the prohibition of unfair trade practices, price manipulation and consumer discrimination. Sellers on marketplaces are also prohibited to adopts any unfair trade practices and are subdued to various duties, e.g. not falsely representing themselves as consumers and posting reviews, not refusing to take back goods and disclosing information. For violations of these provisions, the Consumer Protection Act 2019 would apply.
