United Kingdom: Opened consultation on ICO Statutory Review of Personal Data Processing in Journalism

On 31 July 2022, the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) opened a consultation until 14 October 2022 on the processing of personal data for journalistic purposes under its Statutory Review of the relevant provisions of the Data Protection Act. The consultation covers general data protection themes, such as data sharing, governance, management of records, remote working, and data security. The consultation is intended to assist ICO in understanding how personal data is used for the purposes of journalism, and will allow ICO to design measures to support the journalism sector.
