Closed consultation on Phase 2 of ICO Statutory Review of Personal Data Processing in Journalism

On 2 December 2022, the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) closed its consultation on the processing of personal data for journalistic purposes under Phase 2 of its Statutory Review of the relevant provisions of the Data Protection Act. The consultation covers general data protection themes, as well as industry-specific issues, such as journalistic exemptions to data protection obligations. The consultation is intended to assist ICO in understanding how personal data is used for the purposes of journalism, and will allow ICO to design measures to support the journalism sector.
