Implemented data security law including a blocking mechanism
On 1 September 2021, the Data Security Law, which contains several provisions on the processing of important data by firms, enters into force. In case of non-compliance, for example with monitoring obligations or in the case of a breach, it includes the possibility for the Chinese government to impose fines of up to 10 million yuan and even force companies that handle 'core state data' to shut down.
