Adoption of data security law including a blocking mechanism

The Chinese National People's Congress adopts the Data Security Law, which contains several provisions on the processing of important data by firms. In case of non-compliance, it includes the possibility for the Chinese government to impose fines of up to 10 million Yuan and even force companies that handle 'core state data' to shut down.
