On 18 October 2022, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal upheld the FAS' fine imposed on Apple. The FAS had issued a fine of over USD 12 million against Apple as a result of a finding in August 2020 that it had abused its dominant market position as operator of the sole marketplace for apps on iOS to provide a competitive advantage to its own parental control products while worsening the distribution conditions of its competitors. Further, Apple has been ordered to give up on its ability to reject applications from the app store even where they meet all requirements and to ensure that its own applications do not take precedence over third-party applications.
