Implementation of Works Council Modernization Act including requirements for AI use
On 18 June 2021, the Works Council Modernisation Act enters into force after being published in the German Federal Law Gazette on 17 June 2021. The act includes provisions for the use of Artificial Intelligence in an operational context. It states that the works council can request an expert to assess the firm's use of AI if it is necessary for the fulfilment of its tasks. The works council further has the right to be informed on the planning of work processes and procedures as well as personal selection guidelines if they rely on AI.
