Opened investigation into TikTok over processing of data of users with undefined age

On 22 December 2020, the Italian Data Protection Authority (IDPA) announced that it opened an investigation into Tiktok over its minor data processing practices. The IDPA alleged that TikTok TikTok violated the minors protection regulations due to the lack of systems that would prevent the circumvention of the platform's registration ban for children under 13, the non-transparent information provided to users and the default settings that violate data protection requirements by default.
