On 20 November 2022, India's Ministry of Communications closed its consultation on the draft Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022 including emergency communications powers. The draft bill would, in the event of a public emergency or in the interest of public safety, allow the government to order telecommunications providers to prevent or intercept the transmission of messages.
