Consultation opened on draft Indian Telecommunication Bill 2022 including emergency communications powers
On 21 September 2022, India's Ministry of Communications released and opened a consultation on the draft Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022 including emergency communications powers. The draft bill would, in the event of a public emergency or in the interest of public safety, allow the government to order telecommunications providers to prevent or intercept the transmission of messages. The consultation closes on 20 November 2022 after three deadline extensions.
