Closed FAS investigation into Google over violations of the antimonopoly legislation

On 7 September 2022, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that it is closing its investigation into Google stating that the company complied with the warning issued on 4 July 2022. In its issued warning, FAS required Google to adjust its payment conditions in Google Play to allow application developers to offer different payment methods other than Google's payment system. The FAS alleged that Google was abusing its dominant position in the app store market for the Android operating system by imposing a ban on alternative payment systems. Following Google's decision to change its Developer Program Policy and remove the ban on third-party payment systems, FAS stated that Google addressed all the alleged anti-competitive practices listed in the warning.
